Update (Probably the Last One)

Well, there was no wedding, so it seems the creation of this blog (not to mention all the planning I did) was completely in vain. I'm still with the same guy I planned on marrying, but I doubt now that we will ever marry. Shit happens sometimes and life sucks. For some of us, there is no happy-ever-after.

Since my vintage wedding plans imploded, should I ever wed I highly doubt I will have a "vintage wedding." Too many bad feelings connected with it, and all that jazz.

I hope some of the things I shared on this blog have been of help to others, even if my plans fell through. I wish things had been different, but it can't be helped now. Que sera, sera.

This will probably be the last update I ever post on this blog, if I don't delete it all together. I still haven't decided whether to keep it up or not yet.

Anyway, cheers and best wishes.

Sold

Well, my first dress has been sold. I'm a little sad over selling it, to tell the truth. Even though I have another beautiful dress to wear, it makes me a bit sad that Shawn won't get to see me in the other dress. He told me before he couldn't wait to see me in it... that was before stuff happened. I don't know if he still feels that way.

Anyway, I plan on using the money I got for the dress to help pay for the wedding, if there is going to be one. Right now we're still taking things one day at a time.

My Dress

I got  my new dress yesterday... and it FITS almost perfectly! :) (Now if only I can maintain the weight I am at until November...) It is absolutely beautiful, and exactly what I always pictured myself wearing should I ever tie the knot. So, I'm thinking I might just list the other dress for sale on eBay.

New Dress

I did something I didn't think I would do: I bought a different dress. I was just browsing on ebay and I happened to stumble across a wedding dress which was exactly what I always pictured myself in. It was inexpensive (it's normal sales price is $800, but I got it for $50!) and brand new.

I am absolutely in love with this dress. It's simple but elegant... and well, much more me. I have not told Shawn I purchased a new dress, nor do I plan on it. It will be a surprise. As for my other dress; well, I suppose I can always sell it on ebay.
The truth is, I have bad feelings about the other dress. A lot of crap has happened since I won it, and when Shawn and I do get married, I believe it should be a new beginning for us, and not hold connotations of the past, or bad memories. I am changing a lot. The dress that I won last year symbolizes (in my mind) the old me.

I've lost a lot of weight since picking out the first dress, and it would probably cost more to have it altered (plus find a bolero jacket to go with it, as I totally hate the sleeveless look) than to buy this new dress. Now I just hope it fits. :)

Bridesmaid Dresses

Why is it so difficult to find bridesmaids dresses in the style I want, as well as in the color I want? To give you an idea of what I want, think of Kristy's dress on the original cover of The Baby-Sitter's Club book #6, Kristy's Big Day (by Ann M. Martin).

Yet I am finding it difficult to find anything even remotely similar to this. What is so unusual about empire waist, short sleeves, and floor length? Why is it that everything has to be sleeveless or spaghetti strapped these days? I hate that look!

Anyway... if anyone knows of a website that has dresses that look anything like this dress, in some shade of purple, please let me know.

Wedding Colors

I believe I have finally decided on my wedding colors. The colors I would like to use are black, ivory, and amethyst. Not only is purple one of my absolute favorite colors, amethyst is also my birthstone, and I think the color will compliment my bridesmaids well (as this is the color I plan on using for my bridesmaids dresses.)

I still don't know whether the wedding will be taking place this year or not, but I have expanded my bridal party to now include my step-daughter Lessa as a Junior Bridesmaid. :) Hopefully she will be able to make the trip out for the wedding, and I will finally get to meet her. I met her over the phone last weekend, and it was wonderful to finally get to hear her voice!

There's not much news wedding-wise other than that... I will keep you all posted!
